Today, we commemorate our independence. As a tribute, I'm posting The Philippine National Anthem. Lupang Hinirang is the national anthem of the Philippines. Its music was composed in 1898 by Julian Felipe, with lyrics in Spanish adapted from the poem Filipinas, written by José Palma in 1899. Lupang Hinirang Bayang magiliw, Perlas ng Silanganan Alab ng puso, Sa Dibdib mo'y buhay. Lupang Hinirang, Duyan ka ng magiting, Sa manlulupig, 'Di ka pasisiil. Google.com.ph This is cool! I went to search something on Google and I was surprise to see its logo. Then I realize, hey June 12 is Independence Day. Google shows Philippines Flag design on its logo. The  Philippine Declaration of Independence  occurred on  June 12 ,  1898  in the  Philippines , where Filipino revolutionary forces under General  Emilio Aguinaldo  (later to become the Philippines' first Republican President) proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain after the latter was defeated at the  Battle of Manila Bay  during the  Spanish-American War . The declaration, however, was not recognized by the United States or Spain, as the Spanish government ceded the Philippines to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris , in consideration for an indemnity for Spanish expenses and assets lost.
